FAQS

QWhat is Slewing Rings?

AFrom s wing arm rotation on cranes to the platform on a wind turbine, slewing rings are an integral p art of many machinated processes. When it comes to the parts that make the many processes of y our business possible, Grainger is there to help.  slewing rings are designed to provide precise positioning with consistent repeatability, in appli cations where rotation is constant, intermittent or oscillating. They are the ideal bearing for a dvanced rotary index tables or any design where the bearing will interface with other precision  mechanical components.

QWhat is Spherical Plain Bearings?

AThrust spherical plain bearings are available with sliding contact surface combination steel/PTFE FRP which are suitable for single direction axial loads or combined axial and radial loads. They have low coefficient of friction and are relatively insensitive to contaminants. Spherical plain bearings are manufactured in a wide variety of materials and are designed to off er bearing solutions in almost any operating environment. AST Bearings offers a complete line of  spherical bearings available in inch and metric.

QWhat is Radial & Deep Groove Ball Bearings?

A They accommodate radial and axial loads in both directions, are easy to mount, a nd require less maintenance than other bearing types. Radial deep groove bearings are made with very high levels of precision and used in applications  where rotational performance and low torque is necessary, but load is a secondary issue. Miniat ure, Deep-groove bearings however do have higher load ratings for their size than shallow- groove ball bearings, but are also less tolerant of misalignment.

QWhat is Plain Sleeve & Flanged Bearings?

APlain-sleeve bearings, also called plane, journal, or bushing bearings Sleeve bearings (sometimes called bushings, journal bearings or plain bearings) facilitate linear m ovement between two parts. Sleeve bearings consist of a metal, plastic or fiber- reinforced composite sleeves that reduce vibrations and noise by absorbing friction between two mo ving parts using a sliding motion.
